A big energy ‘out there’
Since I was very small, I’ve had an inkling that there was an energy in the universe that was bigger than me or any of us, and that it was something I wanted to connect with. I had a couple of experiences as a little child that reinforced that for me (those stories are told in the free Module A, Unit 4), but I had no idea how to be in touch with that Godforce.
How to connect with it…?
I explored quite a lot of different religions, paths and isms but nothing gave me the close relationship I was looking for. Indeed, some quite definitely put a guru or some form of priest between me and God.
So when I came across Eckankar in the mid-1980s I knew ‘on the inner’ that it was worth looking at. I tell my story of getting into Eckankar in this blog post.
My job gave me access to many other paths
I was the editor of a holistic magazine in Australia for 27 years from 1989. As such, I had insights into so many other paths. I found lots of help for personal development, but no other spiritual path measured up to Eckankar in terms of giving me the wherewithal to connect personally with Spirit.
But the neurodiverse brain struggles sometimes
However, as an Aspie, I struggled with some of the techniques and practices offered by Eckankar to achieve that personal connection. So I have adapted some for a neurodiverse brain over the last 30+ years, and in this course I share a few of these modified strategies.
I don’t recommend you join Eckankar
Neither do I recommend against it. It’s totally your decision to make. More in this post.
I was not enough
In this lifetime, I’ve suffered from low self-esteem and an inability to love myself. This is pretty much standard for Aspies because we knew from a very early age that we were different and therefore felt as though we didn’t fit in and thus were not enough.
Techniques for improving self-esteem
However, over the years, I’ve developed practices for improving self-worth, self-love, and gratitude, and I share those dotted throughout my courses — always in a light way; never anything heavy or too deep.
In saying I’ve developed techniques, I stress that I could not have done this without the help of 'the ECK' (AKA Spirit, Holy Spirit, the Tao, Chi, Prana, the Godforce, Consciousness, the Universe – even the ‘Big G’ if you like).
This is where the rubber meets the road
That closeness that flourishes with Eckankar really comes into its own with Spirit’s personal guidance to assist with day-to-day problems, and even with deep psychological wounds, some directly attributable to traumas in this life, and others that are hidden away from us until we are ready to face them — and then the ECK gradually gives us hints and signs and ahas to lead us to the next step of our personal and/or spiritual evolution.
It’s a wrap with these three elements
It seems to me that Eckankar’s specialties are in ‘soul travel’ and dreams, both of which give you help and even instruction about what step to take next. The term ‘Soul Travel’ is registered by Eckankar. So I’m using ‘soul flight’ to promote my unit on that topic — Unit B.4. Details of the free Units A and B are at this link.
Dreams are covered in all four units of Module 3. Yes, everyone has dreams (even those of us who never remember them), but it seems to me that Eckankar’s take on dreams is above and beyond most others.
If you are keen to get into dreams, you can also consider downloading my very inexpensive playbook on dreams — details here.
The third special element is the HU chant. It’s not unique to Eckankar and can be sung or chanted by anyone of any religion to enhance their spiritual connection. The second free Module B is entitled ‘The magic of HU’. It’s not magic at all, but the effects sometimes appear magical.
If you like the sound of the above, then I suggest starting with the blog posts or the pre-reading download.
